The glass window that opens over the app you are typing in. It reads the draft, rewrites it for the model you pick, and can put the result back in the same field.
How to open it
Put the cursor in a text field and tap Ctrl+Space (or the hotkey you chose). A short tap opens Refine. Holding the same keys starts dictation instead. Click the dim area around the window to close it. If you are not signed in, or you have not finished choosing a plan, the hotkey opens sign-in or onboarding rather than Refine.
Left tab
A folder tab on the left edge of the overlay
- Wordmark
- Top of the left tab The Anvyll wordmark. It is not a button.
- Drag handle
- Four equal dots under the wordmark on the left tab Drag to move the overlay. The spot is remembered on this PC. The pointer shows a grab cursor while you hover the dots.
Top bar
The row across the top of the overlay, to the right of the left tab
- Project and chat
- Left side of the top bar: a color dot, a folder icon, and the project or chat name (or No project) Opens the context panel. Click again to close it.
- New chat
- Icon button immediately to the right of the project name Starts a fresh chat. Project context stays; the unsent draft stays in the original field.
- Add context
- Right side of the top bar Opens Bring context from your chat. If this chat already has context, the button shows a soft green dot and a one- or two-word topic instead of Add context. Clicking it opens the same import window.
Draft and result
Two panels side by side under the top bar. The original is on the left. The result is on the right.
- Original prompt
- Left panel. The field is labelled Prompt input when it is empty. The draft from the field you were typing in, or an empty compose when nothing was captured. You can edit it. Enter adds a line. It is read-only while a rewrite is running. A selected passage in a normal text field does not fill this box; the overlay opens empty instead.
- Attached files
- A strip along the bottom of the original prompt when you paste or attach files Shows the attached names. Each chip has a remove control.
- Generate
- Under the original prompt, on the left, with a star icon. The accent color follows the theme. Rewrites the draft. After the first result in this open, the label becomes Regenerate. In translate mode the label is Translate, then stays Translate. While it runs the label reads Refining… or Translating…. Pressing Enter while the overlay is idle also starts it. Apply and Copy stay quiet until there is a result, and hovering them says Click Generate first.
- Level
- A thin slider immediately to the right of Generate, in prompting mode Snaps to Cool, Warm, Hot, or Max. Cool is plain prose. Warm uses the model's headings. Hot makes the task, limits, and deliverable clearer. Max adds success criteria. The label color changes with the step.
- Writing level
- The same slider, when the mode pill is set to Writing and the type is not translate Labels depend on the writing type. Braindump: Structure, Summary, Actions, Auto. Email: Structure, Formal, Friendly, Informal. Question: Structure, Closed, Open, Auto. Explain: Structure, Simple, Technical, Step by step. Message: Structure, Informal, Formal, Auto.
- Output language
- Replaces the level slider when the writing type is translate Picks the language of the translation. Dutch is first, then English, then Arabic, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, and Ukrainian. A Dutch draft defaults to English. Any other draft defaults to Dutch. Later picks remember the language you used last.
- Refined prompt
- Right panel, same height as the original plus the Generate row The rewritten text. You can edit it before Apply or Copy. In a terminal the result stays one line, and Enter does not add a line break. Before a result, this side shows whether session or project context is set, and clicking it opens the context panel. While rewriting, placeholder words cycle in the empty field and the box does not resize.
Footer
The bottom band of the overlay
- Model
- Footer, far left, in prompting mode. A pill with the model name and a chevron. Opens a list for the app you are in: Claude models (Fable 5, Sonnet 5, Opus 5, Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5), ChatGPT models (GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, GPT-6 Astra, GPT-5.6 Terra, GPT-5.6 Luna), or Cursor models (Grok 4.6, Grok 4.7, Composer 2.5, Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Sol). Choosing a row sets the destination. The list closes when you pick one.
- Other models
- Last row of the open model list Opens a sheet of companies in A to Z order: Anthropic, Cursor, Google, Meta, Mistral, OpenAI, Perplexity. Choosing a company closes the sheet and reopens the model list filtered to that company. The active model does not change until you pick a row. The filter lasts until the next time you open the overlay.
- Writing type
- Footer, far left, in writing mode, in place of the model pill Opens braindump, question, email, message, explain, or translate. On a long draft, braindump is marked recommended. The choice applies to this rewrite.
- Prompting
- A two-part pill to the right of the model or writing-type control. Prompting is the left half. Rewrites the draft as a prompt for the model you picked.
- Writing
- Right half of that same pill Rewrites the draft as the kind of text you picked (email, message, and so on).
- Discard
- Right side of the footer, the first of the action words, in quiet gray text Closes the overlay and drops this rewrite.
- Apply
- Accent pill to the right of Discard Puts the result back into the field you captured. If that fails, the result stays on the clipboard so you can paste it yourself. Disabled, with a hover tip, until Generate has produced text.
- Copy
- Pill to the right of Apply Copies the result and closes the overlay, returning focus to the app you were in. Disabled, with the same hover tip, until there is a result.
- Reload
- A second row under the footer actions, at the left Closes the overlay and rearms the hotkey. It does not capture again and does not change your chats or settings. It does nothing while a rewrite, Apply, or dictation is in progress.
- Thinking
- A brain icon and switch immediately to the right of Reload, with a gap between them Off by default. When on, the rewrite takes a more careful pass. The reasoning is not shown. On a draft of about 160 characters or more, this control picks up a rainbow treatment. The input field does not.
- Ask
- To the right of Thinking, only in prompting mode Off by default. When on, Generate first asks a few questions about the draft, then rewrites using your answers. Each question has choices, Other answer, and Skip. Close leaves the questions without using the answers. A draft with no real task skips the questions.
- Context chips
- Same quiet row, to the right of Ask, after a successful rewrite, stopping before the Menu button Short chips naming the context that was used. Clicking them opens the context panel.
Menu
Under Copy, outside the glass card. Three horizontal lines with the word Menu. The menu opens upward.
- Menu
- Below the Copy button Opens the menu. It does not push Discard, Apply, or Copy.
- Position
- Top of the open menu: five zones Snaps the overlay to Top left, Top right, Center, Bottom left, or Bottom right. Dragging the four-dot handle overrides the snap until you pick a zone again.
- Settings
- Menu row under Position Opens Settings in Studio.
- Open in Studio
- Menu row under Settings Opens Studio with this draft and, if you have one, the result.
- Dismiss
- Menu row under Open in Studio Closes the overlay.
- Report a bug
- Last menu row, only when bug reports are turned on for your install Opens the bug report form.
Context panel
A panel that drops from the project name in the top bar
- Project row
- A compact row: color dot, project name, and a chevron Expands that project. Only one project is open at a time. The same project stays open if you close and reopen the panel.
- + New Chat
- First row inside an expanded project, and also at the top of the chats that are not in a project Starts a chat in that project, or a chat with no project. The no-project New Chat hides while a project is expanded.
- Chat row
- Under + New Chat in the expanded project, or in the flat list of chats with no project Joins that chat and closes the panel. Chats with no project are listed below the projects, newest first. There is no No project header.
- Delete session
- On a chat row Removes that chat.
- add memory
- On the expanded project header. Reads memory ✓ or AGENTS.md ✓ when something is already saved. Opens the project context editor. If the project is linked to a repository, this shows the synced AGENTS.md and you cannot edit it here.
- Delete project
- On the expanded project header Asks you to confirm. Deleting the project also deletes the chats linked to it. Cancel leaves it in place.
- New Project
- Bright button at the bottom of the panel Starts a project. You name it, then the import window opens locked to project context.
- Connect project
- Footer of the panel, next to New Project Links a project to a GitHub repository and reads the root AGENTS.md or agents.md. While the browser step is open the label is Waiting for GitHub, with a cancel mark. After GitHub is connected the label becomes Add from GitHub.
- Bring context from your chat
- Footer of the panel Opens the import window for this chat.
Bring context
A window centered on the overlay. Click the empty area around it to close. There is no dark backdrop.
- Title
- Top of the window Bring context from your chat, Bring context from your project, or AGENTS.md when you are viewing a synced file.
- Close
- Top right of the window Closes the window. From a new project, you return to the context panel.
- Copy
- Top right of the prompt box in step 1 Copies the export prompt. The label flips to Copied. The next hotkey reopens this window so you can paste the answer.
- Paste box
- Step 2, under the copy box. On an AGENTS.md view this is the only field and it is read-only. Paste the answer from your chat, or any notes. A long paste, or a paste that is not already a summary, changes the save button to Compact and add. You see a compacting state while that runs. The text is not cut off in silence.
- Session or Project
- Bottom left of the window Switches what the pasted text is saved to. A new project locks this to Project.
- Cancel
- Bottom right, left of the save button. The AGENTS.md view says Close instead. Closes without saving.
- Add to context
- Bottom right. The label is Add to project memory for a project, or Compact and add when the paste needs compacting. After it saves, the label is Added. Saves the text as this chat's or this project's memory.
- Summary found on clipboard
- A small pill under the overlay when a summary is already on the clipboard Add to this session, Add to project memory, or Compact and add. Dismiss hides the pill.
