Hold the refine hotkey to speak into the field that has the cursor. A short tap still opens the overlay. Dictation does not open the rewrite window.
How to open it
Hold Ctrl+Space, or the hotkey you set. Hold to dictate must be on in Settings. Release the keys to insert the text.
Dictation card
A small card over the field you are speaking into. It stays up from the moment you hold the keys through listening and processing.
- Listening
- The card while you hold the hotkey Shows that Anvyll is hearing you. There is no button to press. Release the keys when you are done.
- Working
- The same card after you release, with a circular spinner The line rotates through Catching the last words, Smoothing the ums, Fixing punctuation, Tidying the script, and Keeping your phrasing. The text is inserted when it is ready. You do not get a Copied message before that.
- Copied
- The card only when the text could not be inserted The transcript is on the clipboard so you can paste it yourself.
What changes the result
Settings, General. Not on the dictation card.
- Clean up dictation
- Settings, General On: fillers come out and punctuation is fixed. Off: the raw transcript is inserted.
- Transcribe while speaking
- Settings, General. On by default. On: long dictations keep up while you talk. Off: Anvyll waits until you release the keys.
